Nocturn Industries Chimera: The Ultimate 97° Panoramic Quad Nods with up to 2600 FOM White Phosphor

  • The UAPNVG, also known as the Nocturn Industries Chimera, is a professional-grade panoramic night vision goggle system designed for elite reconnaissance and vehicle operations. This American-made system is the first to provide a 97-degree field of view while allowing each optical pod to articulate independently. It is field-proven to reduce neck strain by shifting the weight closer to your helmet, making it the ideal choice for long-duration missions where situational awareness is the priority.
  • High-Definition Gen 3 White Phosphor with Up to 2600 FOM: These L3Harris and Elbit intensifier tubes provide incredible, high-contrast images in black and white. With a Figure of Merit (FOM) reaching as high as 2600, you get a clean and sharp view that lets you spot threats in the darkest conditions.
  • Stows 30% Closer to the Helmet for Maximum Clearance: This patented system uses a rearward stowing design that creates the lowest possible profile when not in use. By moving the center of gravity closer to the natural pivot point of your neck, it significantly reduces fatigue and prevents the goggles from snagging on low doorways or vehicle frames.
  • Independently Articulating Pods for 97-Degree Vision: The four-tube layout expands your horizontal field of view from the standard 40 degrees to a massive 97 degrees. You can flip up individual pods to use weapon-mounted thermals or optics without removing your night vision, ensuring you never lose sight of your surroundings.
  • Exceeds IP68+ Waterproof and MIL-STD-810H Standards: This housing is built to survive the harshest environments, from sub-zero temperatures to heavy rain and dust. Whether you choose the 1.72 lb polymer version or the 1.94 lb magnesium edition, the system is rated for submersion in up to 66 feet of water for two hours.

What are some common accessories to add to the Nocturn Industries Chimera?

High-Performance Mounting Solutions for the Chimera

  • Wilcox G24: This low-profile breakaway mount provides the rock-solid connection required for the Nocturne Chimera. Its extensive adjustment range allows you to position the 97-degree panoramic view perfectly in front of your eyes, while the breakaway feature protects your neck by releasing the goggles under significant physical stress.

Advanced Power & Endurance Systems

  • Nocturn Industries Bat Pack: This dedicated external power supply ensures your UAPNVG Chimera stays operational through extended multi-night missions. It mounts securely to the rear of the helmet, providing a seamless power connection and acting as a functional counterweight to balance the quad-tube system.

Certified Shell Compatibility for Professional Ops

  • Ops-Core FAST SF Gen 2: This elite ballistic shell is the primary platform for the Chimera NVG. Its lightweight design and high-cut geometry provide the necessary clearance for the articulating pods when they are stowed in the rearward position.
  • Galvion Caiman TL: A versatile and lightweight helmet system that integrates perfectly with the Nocturn Industries Panos. The Caiman’s rail system and shroud stability ensure the Nocturn Quad Nods remain steady during high-speed vehicle or maritime maneuvers.
  • Team Wendy Exfil SL: This super-lightweight ballistic helmet offers a specialized liner system that excels at managing the weight of the UAPNVG. The boltless shroud provides a secure interface for your Wilcox G24, ensuring zero wobble during critical observation.

Nocturn Industries Chimera Features & Specifications

The Nocturn Industries Chimera (U.A.P.N.V.G.) provides an unparalleled tactical advantage by delivering a massive 97-degree panoramic field of view, more than doubling the situational awareness of standard night vision. Unlike traditional fixed quad-tube systems, this Nocturn Industries Panoramic NVG features a patented articulating design that allows the optical pods to stow rearward against the helmet, significantly reducing neck strain and preventing snags in tight spaces. This American-made system is the essential solution for operators who require the highest level of visual data and ergonomic comfort during high-stakes vehicle or reconnaissance missions.

Key Features

  • 97-Degree Panoramic Vision: Utilizes a four-tube configuration to provide a wide-angle view, allowing you to detect threats in your periphery without turning your head.
  • Independently Articulating Pods: Each optical pod flips up and stows rearward, moving the center of gravity closer to the neck to maximize balance and comfort.
  • Low-Profile Rearward Stowing: Patented design allows the Nocturne Chimera nvg to sit 30% closer to the helmet than legacy systems, improving clearance in vehicles and doorways.
  • Mission-Specific Customization: Available in Black, OD Green, and Coyote Brown to match your operational environment.
  • Individual Pod Control: Pods automatically power off when articulated and power on when deployed, preserving battery life and preventing light splash.
  • Ruggedized Durability: Built from high-strength hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer or aerospace-grade magnesium for extreme environment reliability.

Nocturn Industries Pano Nods FAQs

What are quad nods?

Nocturn Industries Quad Nods are night vision goggles that use four tubes instead of the usual one or two. This gives you a panoramic view. While standard goggles feel like looking through toilet paper rolls, these Nocturn Pano Nods let you see much wider, almost like your natural vision.

What is FOM?

FOM stands for Figure of Merit. It is a simple number used to measure how clear and sharp the night vision image is. A higher number, like 2600, means you get a cleaner picture with less "noise" or graininess in very dark spots on your Nocturn Chimera.

What is L3 Supergain 24UA and why is it expensive?

The 24UA is a top-tier "Supergain" tube from L3Harris. It is the most advanced technology available because it makes the image much brighter without adding extra fuzziness. It is expensive because it is the highest military-grade glass you can buy for your Nocturn Panoramic NVG, offering the best performance in total darkness.

What does "individual pod on/off when articulated" mean?

The UAPNVG has pods that move up and down independently. When you flip one tube up out of your way, it turns off automatically. This stops light from glowing on your face and saves battery. When you pull it back down, it turns on instantly so you can see again.

Why are there two different housing materials?

The Nocturn Industries Chimera comes in a strong, lightweight polymer for everyday professional use. We also offer a Magnesium housing which is even tougher and lighter. The Magnesium version is a limited-time offer for the first 150 units, so it is a rare choice for those who want the absolute lightest setup.

How can I get different housing colors or special lenses?

You can order your Nocturne Chimera in different colors like Black, OD Green, or Coyote Brown to match your gear. We also offer high-end optics like the RPO 4.0 for a lighter weight or the Boomslang 50-degree lenses for a wider view. For these special orders, you will need to submit a request for a quote here.

How do I know the night vision is built correctly?

Every Nocturn Chimera unit is put through precision alignment and nitrogen purging on professional Hoffman ANV-126A equipment. This process provides a clear image without eye strain so your Nocturn Industries Quad is ready for real-world use.

Why is it not recommended to use rechargeable batteries in the Chimera?

Rechargeable batteries are prone to leaking. This can cause significant damage to the sensitive electronics and tubes inside your Nocturn Industries Panoramic NVG. A leak can cause your device to fail completely when you need it most.

What type of batteries should I use for my night vision?

It is highly recommended to use high-quality lithium CR123A batteries. Lithium batteries are more stable, last longer in the cold, and are much less likely to leak, ensuring your gear stays safe and performs at its best.

What should I do if my Chimera doesn't turn on?

If your goggles are not turning on, follow these steps:

  • Check the Battery Orientation: Ensure the CR123A battery is inserted correctly. The "+" and "-" ends must match the direction shown on the housing.
  • Replace with New Batteries: If the battery is in correctly and it still won't turn on, try a brand-new lithium battery. Most power issues are simply caused by a dead battery.
